NUK explains: Teaching Children Road Safety Rules

Hello, dear parents! I am NUK, and today I want to talk about teaching children road safety rules. Children spend a lot of time on streets, school routes, and parks, so their safety depends on parental guidance. Learning road safety rules not only keeps children safe but also develops responsibility and attention skills.

Teaching children traffic signs, pedestrian crossings, and signals makes them more alert and careful. For example, crossing when the light is green, stopping at red, and recognizing road signs can be taught in a playful way. Learning these rules through fun and practical exercises increases children’s interest and retention.

NUK’s tips:

  • Hold hands while crossing: Walk with your child across pedestrian crossings and explain why it is safe.
  • Teach traffic signs: Show basic traffic signs and explain their meanings in simple words: stop, go, caution, etc.
  • Signals and lights: Teach red, yellow, and green light meanings through games and practice.
  • Safe play areas: Explain that parks and playgrounds are safer than streets for play.
  • Lead by example: Children imitate parents’ behavior, so demonstrate safe habits.

Additionally, teaching children to pay attention, watch the road, and observe moving traffic from an early age helps them internalize safety and responsibility.

Children who learn road safety rules become more careful and responsible both on the way to school and in life. Safe children are parents’ pride.
