Where is the Maiden Tower?
Built of ancient stone and facing the Caspian Sea, the tower’s high walls seem to guard centuries of stories. Visitors from all over the world come to see it in Baku.
Why is it called “Maiden Tower”?
There are several answers. Some say a king’s daughter once lived here and the tower was named to protect her honor. Others believe the name comes from a mysterious legend.
A gentle legend…
Once upon a time, a wise and beautiful princess refused to marry the man chosen by the king. She found shelter in this tower overlooking the sea… Since then, the Maiden Tower has been a symbol of freedom and strength.
