Who Is Stronger?

Once upon a time there was a grasshopper. Because he was so small, he couldn’t fly far and got tired quickly. One day he flew and flew until he was exhausted and landed on a leaf in a puddle to rest and drink water.

A frog leaped and caught him. The grasshopper protested:
— “Let me go, I’m thirsty, I’m drinking water!”
— “Let you go? Then I might go hungry?” replied the frog.

— “Who must eat me then?”
— “One of them,” said the frog, “I must eat you!”
— “Are you crazy? Why would you eat me?”
— “I’m not crazy, the rule is clear — the strong eat the weak!”
— “So you say you’re stronger than everyone?”
— “Indeed, I am the strongest!” said the frog, and placed the grasshopper in a sack to carry away.

The frog didn’t know a mole was listening. When the moment came, the mole grabbed the frog’s leg. The frog cried out:
— “Let me go…!”
The mole said:
— “You boasted you were the strongest in the forest — where is your strength now?”
The frog admitted his mistake and acknowledged the mole was the stronger one.

Not long after, a fox appeared. It smirked and asked:
— “Heard that you claimed to be the forest’s mightiest. Is that so?”
The frog was stunned. The fox continued:
— “Mind you, intelligence also has strength.”

The fox trapped the frog and carried him off. On their path, they met a lion. The lion questioned:
— “Where are you taking this creature?”
The fox claimed he was taking food home.

The lion, hearing a “grrr” from the sack, grew angry. But just then, a hunter appeared and fired. The lion, fox, and frog fled, and the grasshopper, frog, mole escaped to safety.

Moral

Strength does not lie in force alone — wisdom and cleverness are true power.
